WORRY
Worry is a war in the mind that only peace can defeat! Jesus told us not to worry but to, “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness.” [ Matthew 6:33 ] In other words He was saying that unless we get our priorities right we shall always worry. We were not put on the earth to do our own thing and just eat, drink and be merry but to do the will of our Creator and to love and serve Him. Wise people will prayerfully read the Bible and ask God to show them His plan for their lives. The Bible says that, “Wisdom’s ways are ways of pleasantness and all her paths are peace.” [ Proverbs 3:17 ] The word peace comes over 400 times in the Bible which is the best book in the world to defeat worry and develop peace.
To be free from worry our first need is to be at peace with God. This peace can only come to us, “Through the blood of His cross.” [ Colossians 1:20 ] It was on the cross that Jesus paid the penalty our sins deserved so that when we believe this and turn away from our sins we can be forgiven and adopted into God’s Family. This means we can then bring all our problems to our Heavenly Father who will give us, “The peace of God which surpasses all understanding.” [ Philippians 4:6,7 ] This will turn our worry into happy worship so that we are full of praise and thanksgiving.
The Bible says, “Thou wilt keep Him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Thee.” [ Isaiah 26:3 ] In order to keep our minds fixed on Jesus we need to make time every day for Bible reading and prayer. Finally we must find a good church and worship there every Sunday.
